Hookwood is a village in Surrey that is close to country inns and manor houses, and has good transport links especially to Horley Railway Station and London Gatwick Airport.

Immerse yourself in nature at nearby Gatton Park where you can walk pathways beside ponds with herons and wildfowl, pick fruit at orchards or explore themed gardens such as a Japanese Garden, Rock Garden or Old World Garden.
Aviation and military enthusiasts should drive 15 minutes south from Hookwood to the Wings Museum at Balcombe. This small museum exhibits uniforms, planes and military weapons with informative staff on hand to explain the history behind the displays.
For a historical insight into the region, drive 10 minutes to Reigate where interesting attractions include the Reigate Castle ruins and gateway, and the underground Reigate Caves that you can visit on guided tours that are held the 2nd Saturday of each month between May and September.

Fifty minutes east of Hookwood is the town of Maidstone, best known for the spectacular Leeds Castle rising from a moat brimming with swans and geese. Visit the castle when there are regular events re-enacting medieval life such as falconry displays. Other things to do in Maidstone include hiring canal boats on River Medway or sitting under the trees with a picnic at Mote Park.
