It’s not every day that teams from Startup Bootcamp (SBC) come together to discuss and brainstorm about SBC’s future. Therefore our Startup Bootcamp father Alex Farcet made one particular day a little bit different. We had a visit to the place where we will have The Investor Day in the Grand Theatre on November 9, so we had an opportunity to experience the place and make projections on how this big Investor Day will work out.
As you all know this is only Startup Bootcamp’s first year, therefore all the teams feel like experimental guinea-pigs and no-one knows how this venture will end. After the Grand Theatre visit we had a brainstorming session, at the Rainmaking office, about what should be improved in the next Startup Bootcamp, in 2011, and I think we have come up with some very good ideas. Simple is beautiful
Last august, a friend and I had a spontaneous idea which we liked so much that we began to implement it right away. What did we do? We created an Internet platform, where car renters can post their requests and car rental companies can respond. They do so by sending their bids through this platform – it’s like a reverse auction really. Two weeks into the project we already had the first elementary prototype running, and after the first month of operations we realized that it really works. We soon found that we had created a simple way for renters to receive offers from a multitude of small and medium sized car rental companies. This is something that is not possible when using Google as your starting point. In return, the car rental companies get new customers from the Internet. Simple is beautiful.
